Nat Faxon: I think all of these incredible people who surround us understand and appreciate ensemble-type films, and that’s certainly…Jim and I come from The Groundlings and a lot of the things we do are performing with other people, writing shows with other people, in that collaborative spirit – and I think this movie is – the sum of its parts – it takes a certain type of person to understand that and jump in, and we’re so incredibly fortunate came on this ride with us. In one scene a man jokes that a friend was spoilt by fame and turned to cocaine, but this is obviously a deliberately outrageous lie. There are some visual and verbal references to drugs. There are also some visual sex references as an attendant on a ride at a water park deliberately gets women to wait at the top so he can look at their bikini clad bottoms. Other comments include a jokey reference to a 'male whore', to someone having a 'touch of herpes', and to whether someone 'gets laid' because of their sense of humour. There are some moderate comic sex references, including a woman explaining how her ex-husband has now come out as gay and that she always thought 'he preferred the view of the back of my head'. The film also contains some moderate and mild bad language, including uses of 'bitch', 'shitty', 'crappy' and 'dick'. There is also a single moment of wordplay on very strong language, when a woman explains that she is arguing with neighbours because they called her a 'See you next Tuesday'. There is a single use of strong language ('f**king') when a woman gets upset and cries during an argument with her partner. THE WAY WAY BACK is a comedy drama about a teenage boy who is forced to spend his summer holiday at the seaside home of his mother's new boyfriend.
